After witnessing short staffing as a floor nurse and union leader, Chris built a solution to reduce nurse staffing shortages by joining forces with a full-stack engineer and developed an on-demand, app-based scheduling solution for nurses and nursing facilities. Chris filled IntelyCare's first shift four years ago, and since then, he's been helping the organisation grow across the US. Today, IntelyCare has over 11,000 active Nursing professionals who've filled over two and a half million hours of skilled nursing care, making IntelyCare the fastest growing healthcare staffing company in the US. Phillip Alvelda is a scientist, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, and an educator. Previously at DARPA, the central research and development organization for the U.S. Department of Defense that maintains the technological superiority of the U.S. military and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where he developed sensors that have flown throughout the solar system. Phillip has founded new infrastructure, telecommunications, and media companies, including the DARPA-funded MicroDisplay; MobiTV; TaDa Innovations; and the non-profit Westminster Institute for K-12 Science Education Reform. He is now the founder of Brainworks, which builds trustworthy intelligent machines, and applies them to solve complex global challenges. The company leverages the latest pioneering discoveries in neuroscience to build more complete, whole-brain AI systems that society can trust with life-or-death decisions. Alvelda holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Cornell University, and Masters and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in computer science and electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Before Optum Ventures, Ash served as a lead life sciences investor and head of research for Mercia Technologies, one of the most active investors in the UK. He led transactions into a variety of health care businesses, sat on multiple boards, and also led Mercia’s internal corporate strategy team.
