130: This is Elodie Ruelleux-Dagorne
This week I'm joined by the fab Elodie Ruelleux-Dagorne, one of France's very best documentary wedding photographers, and always an absolute pleasure to talk to. I've been fortunate to meet Elodie in real life numerous times now, and she's always so bubbly and friendly; super to have her here on the Podcast. She talks about lots of things today, including:
*why she meets up (and often has a drink with) her couples before the day,
*the importance of being yourself,
*McDonald's menus in France,
*top tips for improving your documentary work,
*imposter syndrome,
*how she used to work in the music industry and stalking the Stereophonics,
*being social, and how that's had an effect on so many things in her life,
*the story behind her 'Brad Pitt / toilet' Reportage Award,
*and so much more...
Before we get on to Elodie, just a couple of bits of news from me: Very excited to announce that we're having a This is Reportage & This is Reportage: Family summer Meetup in Paris, France, next month - on Tuesday 15th August 2023, to be exact.
This is a totally informal meetup of members, where we can all get together, chat, and have a drink or few... It's totally free for members, of course, though the cocktails won't be free, sorry...! Members can also invite guests along; the more the merrier. Thanks again loads to Elodie for finding and booking a venue for me; afraid I only know about three words in French...!
I'm looking forward to meeting lots of French photographers, but also some from elsewhere in Europe - if you're around, or fancy a trip to Paris, would be fab to see you there! Members, details of the meetup have been included in the latest newsletters, and in our private Facebook group.

129: York Place Studios on 'Is This Something?'
The podcast is back with a special episode today as I chat to the wonderful duo that is York Place Studios, all about their brand new book, 'Is This Something?' I was incredibly honoured to have been asked to write the foreword for the book, and it also meant I was able to read an advance copy - and I can honestly say they have written *the* defining book about documentary wedding photography, honestly, it's just brilliant.
We deep-dive into the book on the podcast today, but honestly, you don't even need to listen because even if you have the slightest regard for documentary photography, then it's a total must-read. Pre-orders are open right now, with the first books available on a limited first-edition print run in July. Head to https://seeminglyinsignificant.com/ to place your order.
Before we hear from Liam and Dom (who, by the way, I've interviewed individually on the Podcast in the past: Check out episode #26 for Dom and #55 for Liam), I just want to say that I hope you're all well, and having a great season. I'm right in the thick of things at the moment, hence why I haven't done a Podcast in a while, but I'm hoping to start recording and releasing more episodes soon.
Head to https://thisisreportage.com/podcast-episode-129-york-place-studios-on-is-this-something/ for a few photos of the book, and for a link through to their website where you can place your order (https://seeminglyinsignificant.com/)

128: This is Aga Maru of Pic-Time
This week's episode should be of interest whether you shoot weddings or families - or really any other genre - as I chat to the fab Aga Maru of Pic-Time! If you've been to any kind of photography event around the world over the past few years, you've probably had the pleasure of meeting Aga - Pic-Time's Community & Partnerships Director. As well as knowing all there is to know about Pic-Time, she's a photographer herself, and super lovely to talk to, too. We cover lots on the episode today, including:
*Pic-Time's recent Blog feature - creating blogs that look great with good SEO, and quickly!
*her photography journey and how she's lived all over the world,
*tips on how using Pic-Time's slideshows can increase your gallery views dramatically,
*our Netflix synopsis game,
*how to get the best from Pic-Time's Sale Automations (and how they're so customisable and easy to setup),
*why being in front of the camera can help you as a photographer yourself,
*and much more...
I've personally been using Pic-Time for the past few years and love it - it just looks so good, is easy to use, and has great sale automation features as well, that's really helped me get more print and album sales; can't recommend it enough.
