At only 23 years old, Trevor has managed to pay off his $90,000 student loan in only 1 year. So how did he do it? Instead of finishing his degree and getting a regular 9-5 job, Trevor pursued a string of successful entrepreneurial endeavors. When he was young, he used to go door-to-door selling lemonade. He also mowed lawns and bought and sold baseball cards - anything he could do to make money on his own. In college, he started a dropshipping company from his dorm room. Soon after, he started Become The Lion, a top-ranking motivational blog where he accumulated 600,000 followers in less than a year. At the same time, he launched a podcast interviewing extremely successful entrepreneurs. With this wealth of experience under his belt, he launched his current venture: Podcasting You, a company that helps identify and schedule guests for podcasters. Trevor has helped both guests and podcasters increase their leads, attract new customers, and grow their brands. With that first wave of success, Mike went on to write a short piece called The Coffee House Letter. Randomly... ...a young jazz musician named Jeff, in $500k’s worth of debt, just happened to read that letter - and it changed his life forever. Indeed, if I hadn’t read that letter... I wouldn’t be here today running ENTRE. In fact, I wouldn’t have even met my lovely wife Jaqueline and started our beautiful family. A crazy thought! I owe a lot to Mike. The ripple effect is real. There’s more… I mentioned that Mike is a serial entrepreneur. His success formula? Asking smart questions and solving smart problems. Since 2014, he’s been working on a hydroponics business that hoped to solve the problem of overly-expensive organic fruit and vegetables. A robot farm for the kitchen was the dream. An extra special episode of Millionaire Secrets for you today, as I’m joined by my wife, Jaqueline. As you might expect, today’s podcast has a very intimate feel to it. I get a lot of questions about how I manage to juggle a happy home life whilst working crazy hours and being dedicated to ENTRE. Many of these questions focus on the relationship Jaqueline and I have with our kids and how we parent. And so, That’s the topic we dive into today. How to be a best friend for your teenage children. It’s something that most parents struggle with. Many well-intentioned parents find their kids shutting down, becoming moody, distant, and unfriendly. From early on... We knew we didn’t want that to happen in our family. When our sons were still only 10 and 9, we started going to parent therapy sessions to learn how to be great parents in the years ahead. One thing that our therapist said that really had an impact on us was, Once your child turns 14, their friends are the biggest impact on their lives - not you. And this is where so many parents get it wrong. They fight against it. They fail to let go. If you’re worried about losing a grip on your teenager then it’s time to look inward. Your child is always a mirror of you. But Jeff, it’s too late for me. My kid is already 16 and he’s aloof, grumpy, and distant. What do I do to create a tighter relationship with him? We cover that. Jaqueline has been doing this a lot longer than me - I was late to the party. She has some great advice on how you can heal the bonds with your teenagers. Today’s interview for the Millionaire Secrets podcast is with David Schloss. David is the owner of Convert ROI, a digital ads management company. David started out in the paid ads space way back in 2007 and now manages over $30 million dollars per year in ad spend. His agency makes in the region of $3-$3.5 million dollars in annual revenue. Not bad for what started as a side gig for David in college. This is an interesting interview because David has been there since the very beginning on the social ads platforms like Facebook. He was there back in the good ‘ole days when it was a gold rush on Faceook and super-easy to make a fortune. Of course, I put the questions to David that I know you’re all thinking... Was is really all that easy back then? Is it harder now? Is the market too saturated? Can anyone still do this? David replies… It’s just different now. The gold is still there for the taking. Saturation is validation. You just need to think creatively. There’s more… In the second half of the interview we go off on a bit of an interesting tangent… Most people have no idea how much a healthy and comfortable retirement will cost. Zero idea. You’re 55 and you got $80k in the bank and you think you’re good? Wrong. You can blow through that in a few days of medical bills in an emergency. Both David and I agree that you probably need $5million - $10 million banked to have a comfortable retirement - and not be relying on your family to take care of you.
