DOPAMINE DETOX: Take Back Control Of Your Life | DR. ANNA LEMBKE | Unlock Your Potential #213
Meet Dr. Anna Lembke, Professor of Psychiatry at Stanford University School of Medicine, Chief of the Stanford Addiction Medicine Dual Diagnosis Clinic, and author of Drug Dealer M.D. and Dopamine Nation.
In this episode, I chat with Dr. Lembke about giving your brain a dopamine detox to take back control of your life.
In recent years, we've become so accustomed to dopamine that we heavily rely on it to make us feel normal.
Between phones, TV, computers, and online shopping, we experience so much pleasure that we can barely handle it when pain comes along.
However, by slowly replacing those dopamine addictions with doing hard things, we can avoid becoming dependent on dopamine to feel normal.
According to Dr. Lembke, doing hard things is actually paying for dopamine upfront because we choose pain first and are rewarded with dopamine later rather than choosing dopamine first.
For example, instead of choosing to watch TV all night, work on your skills or start a side hustle.
In the modern economy, we have the ability to create any life we want, yet we choose to fall into the dopamine trap.
So, I challenge you to endure a little pain once in a while to avoid falling into the trap of dopamine addiction.

Change Your Life Through The Power of ONE MORE | ED MYLETT | Unlock Your Potential #211
If you want to change your life, you have to go one more👇🏻
In this episode, I chat with Ed Mylett about his new book, 'The Power of One More,' and his journey leading up to it.
Ed begins by explaining his dad's impact on his life and his struggle with alcoholism.
Despite watching his father struggle with alcohol at a young age, Ed learned valuable skills that would lead him to make a lot of money.
Ed also talks about the inspiration for the concept of his book, called going "one more," which was inspired by his dad's struggle to quit alcohol.
The concept of "one more" is about putting 100% effort into everything you do and then doing one more of those things.
Going "one more" is the difference between succeeding and failing because you're pushing yourself to do more than you think you can.
Another topic we cover in this episode is failing to live your life aligned with your goals because you think they're too far away.
If you want to reach your goals, you need to live every day with the intention of achieving those goals sooner than you think.
You never know how close you are to changing your life, according to Ed. The one thing that could change your life might be right around the corner, but you weren't living intentionally, so you might miss it.
It was an honor to have Ed Mylett on this show, and I hope you enjoyed this episode.

How He Turned Rejection Into His Dream Job At Disney | SAUL BLINKOFF | Unlock Your Potential #210
Successful people don't go through pain; they GROW through pain.
In this episode, I chat with Saul Blinkoff about how he turned rejection into his dream job at Disney.
Saul tells us that achieving success doesn't come without pain.
We must endure some pain to reach our goals.
Once we realize that, we will grow through the pain instead of just going through it.
Saul also talks about turning your weaknesses into strengths through daily, disciplined action.
If you're not good at something and need to be good at it to reach your goals, figure out how to become better.
The last piece of advice Saul leaves us with is to take one step at a time to reach our goals.
He didn't become a Disney animator overnight. It took years of studying and persevering to finally reach his goals.
Don't get overwhelmed by your big dreams.
Take one step at a time, relish in it, and let it motivate you to take the next step.

What 50 Ironman Races Taught Him About MENTAL TOUGHNESS | JAMES LAWRENCE Unlock Your Potential #208
The best way to give somebody hope is by showing up every single day.
In this episode, I chat with James "The Iron Cowboy" Lawrence, the man who completed 100 Ironman Races in 100 days.
James recalls the mental toughness he had to develop during his journey.
He knew that if he quit, he'd never know what it felt like to succeed.
He also knew that by quitting, he wouldn't be able to give people hope that anyone can do hard things if they believe in themselves.
I challenge you today; whatever you're facing, don't quit.
You must believe you will succeed even if nobody's watching you or rooting for you.

Simple Hacks To Having VALUABLE Conversations | MARK DRAGER | Unlock Your Potential #207
Active Listening is the key to having more valuable conversations.
In this episode, I chat with Mark Drager about how active listening makes conversations more authentic and smooth.
Mark Drager is a brand strategist, podcast host, and business owner who discovered that active listening was the key to overcoming his awkwardness.
Active listening is listening to the other person in a conversation to process and clarify their words without judgment.
The goal of active listening is to pay attention to the other person without forming an argument in your head.
If you think of something to say, ask yourself if it's worth interrupting the person or letting them finish.
After the person finishes speaking and you've had time to reflect, you can say whatever is on your mind.
Saying whatever is on your mind after you've reflected is more authentic because you aren't caught up in your own argument.
So, I challenge you to implement active listening in your conversations and watch how much more valuable those conversations become.

Discover Your Life Purpose Through The Peaceful Warrior's Way | DAN MILLMAN | Unlock Your Potential #206
The only way to discover your life's purpose is to appreciate each step of your journey toward your goal.
In this episode, I chat with Dan Millman, personal development author, former world champion athlete, college professor, university coach, and martial arts instructor.
Dan talks about the importance of finding happiness within each step of your journey, not only becoming happy when you reach your destination.
Many people believe that they'll be happy once they reach their destination.
However, there are moments within your journey when you achieve happiness simply by progressing toward your goal.
Progressing towards your goal gives you purpose, and that purpose is what brings you happiness.
However, you also need a destination, or you'll wander around and never accomplish anything or have a purpose.
So, it's vital that you find happiness within the journey and learn to appreciate each step as you get closer to your goal.

There is success within every failure.
In this episode, I chat with Beate Chelette about switching your perspective from thinking failure is painful to view it as an opportunity to learn a life-changing lesson.
When we fail, we gain an experience that teaches us a lesson. Failure also teaches us what success looks like by figuring out what doesn't work.
Sometimes, we just have to go through the tough times to build the muscle that unlocks our greatness.

Find Your Authentic Self Through True Voice | DR. FRED MOSS | Unlock Your Potential #204
True voice is the key to finding your true authentic self.
During my conversation with Dr. Fred Moss, he explained the concept of true voice and how radical listening is the best way to find it.
The reason is that radical listening allows you to process the other person's words and emotions and understand their message without judgment.
As you process the other person's argument or message, you develop a response that aligns with their statement.
This response is called your True Voice because you demonstrate your authentic self while keeping the other person's truth in mind.
Basically, you're basing your response on the other person's message without compromising your own message.
We always think we need to get our message out as quickly as possible so that people will hear it.
However, failing to radically listen to our audience and process their emotions leads them to reject our message.
You can apply the same concept to business.
People don't want to hear how great your product is. They want to know how it can help THEM.
The only way to understand people's pain points is to LISTEN to them.
As you practice radically listening regularly, you refine your true voice and strengthen your emotional intelligence.
