Conscious capitalism is under attack from traditional capitalists who fear losing control and anti-capitalists who seek to leverage it against traditional capitalism. It is not an economic system but a management philosophy with a core principle that businesses should have a higher purpose beyond profit-making, aiming to create value for customers. While unconscious conscious capitalists exist, it is crucial for businesses to recognize the interdependence of stakeholders and prioritize customers, followed by investors, team members, suppliers, and communities. Despite criticism for not being completely altruistic, businesses serve a critical purpose in society by fulfilling their higher purpose.
