Vitamin C, E, zinc, and copper in combination with these carotenoids have also been found to be beneficial. However, beta-carotene may increase the risk of cancer, particularly in smokers. High-dose vitamin B3 has shown promise in protecting against glaucoma and optic nerve degenerative diseases. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its impact on the NAD synthesis pathway and its ability to improve retinal function. Clinical trials are currently underway to further explore the potential of vitamin B3 supplementation in glaucoma treatment.
