Threads App: Is It A Twitter Killer?
The new app Threads has the potential to be a competitor to Twitter due to two main factors: infrastructure and people. Threads has a well-built-out infrastructure with real features, such as Rees shares, DMs, posting, sharing images and videos, profiles, and the integration with Instagram. This infrastructure allows for continuous development and improvement. As for the people, Twitter has always had an advantage with its wide range of users, including athletes, artists, creators, politicians, and TV shows. Threads, through its connection with Instagram and Facebook, is able to tap into this already existing social graph and bring in celebrities and verified users. These two factors combined make Threads the first competitor that has the potential to rival Twitter. The app is already 80% built out and has features like a homepage, liking and commenting on posts, attaching images, searching for users, and activity notifications. While there are still some bugs to be fixed, Threads is expected to add features that Twitter doesn't have. Overall, Threads is an exciting new app that could offer a compelling alternative to Twitter.
