The internet has shortened our attention span, but it has also made us more judicious in our reading choices. Books can sometimes be long-winded and lack substance. Blogs, on the other hand, provide concise and valuable insights. However, the oldest wisdom is found in books, which contain the combined works of all of humanity. To tackle this, the speaker treats books like blogs, skimming through them and consuming the parts that are interesting. This allows access to a wealth of knowledge. Many people claim to be reading books, but few actually finish them. The societal and personal rules surrounding reading create obstacles to completing books. The speaker reads for one to two hours a day, putting them in the top 0.00001%. This daily habit contributes to their material success and intelligence. The key is to make reading a habit, regardless of what is read. Just like exercise, doing something every day is crucial. The type of reading material doesn't matter as long as it generates excitement and contributes to personal growth.
