Successful entrepreneurship involves beginning with real problems and progressively solving them, which creates a foundation for sustained growth. Initially addressing specific issues, such as teams needing websites and fans wanting to watch their heroes, allows for iterative improvement and adaptation. As solutions evolve from poor to better, they pave the way for tackling larger challenges, like live content streaming and creating new consumer relationships with sports. This approach illustrates a strategic method of incremental development, illustrating how addressing individual needs can lead to the establishment of a significant company.

Ben and David continue Acquired’s “tech and sports” mini-series with Disney’s 2016 acquisition of a minority stake (with the right to purchase a majority stake at a later date) in BAMTech, the internet streaming company originally founded as part of Major League Baseball in the early 2000’s.
