How to Accelerate Learning

Engaging in a focused bout of learning followed by a motor activity that induces self-generated optic flow can enhance recovery and promote neural plasticity. When in a state of self-generated optic flow, where things are passing by on our retina and we are not specifically focused on anything, areas of the brain involved in alertness are deactivated, allowing for deep rest. This form of rest is pleasurable and practical for many individuals, and can be achieved through wordless activities like running or cycling.
