The important questions in roll-ups are about governance and control rather than the decentralization of the sequencer. The control of the roll-up and its governance mechanism, such as who controls the sequencers and who holds the upgrade keys, is more crucial than the exact mechanism of the sequencer. Decentralizing the sequencer does not necessarily guarantee real-time censorship resistance or prevent monopolistic operators, as the governance token holders can still implement rules and select sequencers that suit their interests. The focus should be on constraining the powers of the sequencers, even if it's just one person, rather than rushing for maximum decentralization. Active governance is expected in roll-ups, and they should consider different trade-offs for concepts like MEV compared to Ethereum.
