There are two ways to unlock trustless restaking: withdrawal contracts and bootstrap on top of existing slashing conditions. Making the withdrawal contract updateable would limit potential losses from a compromised staking key. Restaking exposes users to more slashing risk, so separating the staking key and withdrawal key is not valuable. Another solution is to remove the ability to bootstrap on slashing conditions by using one-shot signatures. One-shot signatures combine existing cryptography with quantum mechanics to create a signing key that destroys itself after signing one message. This could be a potential future upgrade for removing slashing conditions.
