Pathologization and the Need to Label: Understanding Society's Fascination with Perceived Pathologies

Pathologization, a byproduct of psychology's history with the abnormal, is prevalent in society. Perceived pathologies are both glorified and criticized. Trauma stories can be used to elevate oneself while calling out someone else's trauma can be used to diminish them. This creates a hierarchical puritanism where anyone who doesn't share the same socio-political views is deemed pathological. Psychological diagnoses are used to discredit opposing views. Paradoxes are pathologized rather than embraced.
