How to Write a Reader Statement
To create a reader statement, first identify your mission and your top three values as a writer. Then, determine what you want your readers to experience when they read your work. Consider the level of feeling and engagement you want to evoke. Remember that people remember how you make them feel more than what you say or do. As a writer, your goal is to invoke emotions in your readers. Also, reflect on what makes you unique and emphasize those aspects in your writing and publishing. Consider your special interests, skills, life experiences, upbringing, sense of humor, and more. These elements contribute to your publishing purpose. It is important to align your personal values, definition of success, and the things that anger, motivate, and move you with your mission statement and publishing purpose.
