Intermittent Fasting and Autophagy: Finding the Sweet Spot

Autophagy, the process of cellular self-cleansing and recycling, is believed to play a role in preventing cancer. While there is no definitive evidence on the timing required to induce autophagy in humans, it is speculated to start around three to five days of fasting. Prolonged fasting may be beneficial for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy as it selectively stresses cancer cells more than normal cells.
