The Challenges of Tanks: Weight and Mobility
Tanks face challenges with weight and mobility. While tanks like the Tiger have lower ground pressure due to their enormous tracks, their weight still poses difficulties. When reaching a bridge, the heavy weight of tanks like the Tiger can cause issues, as the load puts strain on the bridge. This becomes a problem when encountering areas with streams and wooden bridges, as they may not be able to support the weight of these heavy tanks. Additionally, tanks may become immobile and useless if hit by enough artillery shells. The Red Army realizes that although these tanks are tough, they can be rendered useless by damaging their radiator grill or radio antennae. Creating enough craters may also prevent tanks from moving effectively.
