Globally, 11-12 million deaths per year from cancer

Globally, there are approximately 11-12 million deaths per year from cancer. On an individual level, there is a 1 in 4 chance of getting cancer in one's lifetime, with a 1 in 6 chance of dying from it. However, not all cancers are equally treatable. Cancers like prostate cancer and colon cancer can be easily screened for and treated in their early stages, making it unacceptable for people to die from them. On the other hand, cancers like breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, and glioblastoma are more complicated and harder to treat. Cancer is not a single disease, but rather a category of diseases.
