Meditation is a tool that offers different types and effects on the mind. Focusing on the breath lulls the mind into a state of rest and brings about presence, balance, and emotional control. Visualization and analytical meditation have different effects as well, but all forms of meditation help in becoming more present, balanced, and in gaining better control of oneself and emotions. On the other hand, constantly scrolling on the phone, particularly through social media, has a shallow and detrimental impact on the mind. It is important to recognize that all our daily activities shape our mental state and we often underestimate the powerful impact they have.
