#386 – Marc Andreessen: Future of the Internet, Technology, and AI
Lex Fridman Podcast
Possible Futures of AI
There are several big questions surrounding the future of AI, including the debate between big models versus small models and proprietary versus open. Another question is the availability of training data and the potential for synthesizing it. Regulation is also a significant factor, with concerns about legality and competitive barriers. One possible future is a world where a few large companies own powerful AI models and achieve regulatory capture, similar to the centralized nature of banking or search companies. On the other hand, there is a vision of a decentralized future with open source AI, where anyone can contribute and optimize models, generating decentralized training data through blockchain networks. This future would resemble the open source world we have with Linux and the web.
