Being a Critical Thinker
Human beings have a default setting of trusting others and believing what they are told. This trust extends to various aspects of life, such as trusting cashiers, doctors, and pilots. However, this default setting makes society more susceptible to deception. To avoid falling into gullibility, it is crucial to be a critical thinker. Being a critical thinker involves questioning information received, but also conducting proper research and vetting credible sources. It is important to verify the source of information, consider their beliefs and motives, and critically analyze the evidence. Simply claiming to have done research is not enough; the quality and credibility of the research matter. Being a critical thinker requires informational literacy and the ability to research from reliable sources.
