The idea of letting go of the self is that by turning off yourself through meditation, you can reach a state of still consciousness where you no longer identify with anything. This means that the self, which is just a construct, dissolves and you realize that you are not special or unique. By letting go of the attachment to the idea of identity, you can control your attention and access your own source code to potentially make temporary changes.
Joscha Bach is the VP of Research at the AI Foundation, previously doing research at MIT and Harvard. Joscha work explores the workings of the human mind, intelligence, consciousness, life on Earth, and the possibly-simulated fabric of our universe.
