The Terror of GPT-like Models

GPT-like models are seen as a valuable tool that amplifies human abilities and is an extension of human will. While there may be some fear about GPT taking programmer jobs, it is believed that only mediocre programmers will be affected. The creative act and the genius involved in programming are seen as fundamentally human elements that GPT-like models are far away from replicating. Most programmers find GPT-like models to be amazing and significantly increase their productivity. The psychology of terror surrounding these models is more about their overwhelming awesomeness rather than a fear of obsolescence. Just like when Kasparov lost to Deep Blue in chess, chess has never been more popular, and people continue to play and watch.
