How Microsoft uses cloud data to track knowledge worker tasks of email and meetings
Microsoft can track how knowledge workers are spending their time by analyzing data from Microsoft software. They focused on the most active users of their apps, who primarily use Microsoft software for their business needs. The analysis revealed that these users spend an average of 8.8 hours a week reading and writing emails, and 7.5 hours logged into meetings. This amounts to two full days out of a five-day work week. However, this time is not consolidated into two uninterrupted days, but rather spread throughout the week, leading to constant interruptions and overhead saturation.
