Pushing your kids too hard to excel in every aspect of their lives, seeking constant extrinsic motivation, can lead to burnout and a loss of their intrinsic motivation. This can result in a rebellion against discipline and organization later in life, as they associate it with the negative experiences of burnout. It is important to demonstrate the value of discipline and organization, but allow your child to pull it out of their toolbox themselves when they are ready. Forcing them too hard can potentially break that tool early, leaving them without it when they need it later on.
