The no. of COUNTRIES and CURRENCIES isn’t flat (Balaji’s The Network State)

There are over 200 UN-listed countries, but most of them are small, with less than 10 million people. Only 14 countries have populations over 100 million. The number of UN-listed countries has steadily increased since the end of World War II due to decolonization and imperial breakup. Similarly, the number of new currencies has also seen an increase in the past, becoming almost vertical at some point.
