The importance of execution in growing social media
Executing well in growing social media is crucial. Being able to help people spread the service to their friends is a core competence that leads to rapid growth. While some platforms like TikTok have done a very good job at execution, it is not automatic. Twitter, for example, has a great idea and magic in the service but has not yet cracked the execution piece. This has resulted in the emergence of other platforms attempting different approaches. One interesting experiment that should be explored on a larger scale is the decentralization of control and a more open stack.
