The way we treat and interact with other people is a reflection of our internal state and can indicate whether we are in a healthy or unhealthy space. Treating others with kindness, grace, and patience indicates a healthy state of mind, while being impatient, harsh, or brutal suggests an unhealthy state. How we relate to others also determines how much control we have over our own lives. To take control of our internal world, we must not be reactive or responsive to the external world. The healthier our internal world is, the less impact the external world has on us, whereas the more unhealthy our internal world is, the more dependent we become on external circumstances. When feeling overwhelmed or stressed, it is beneficial to detach and focus on what's happening inside ourselves before engaging with others. Taking time to recalibrate through activities like walking or having time alone can help restore a healthy state of mind.
