The Effects of Intense Afternoon Exercise on Your Body Clock

Intense afternoon exercise increases body temperature and delays the circadian clock, causing a desire to fall asleep and wake up later. Ingesting caffeine to boost energy for exercise can disrupt sleep. However, exercising early in the day has minimal impact on the circadian clock. Additionally, forced exercise prior to wake up times, meaning deliberately waking up earlier than usual, can be an effective way to advance the circadian clock.
