The emergence of Sci Hub

In 2011, Aaron Schwartz is indicted and SciHub is created. Within four years, SciHub becomes popular, leading publishers to take legal action against it. The publishers argue that SciHub is distributing material without the legal right to do so. However, Alexandra, the founder of SciHub, refuses to appear in court. Consequently, the judge awards the publishers $15 million in damages.
