Why You Shouldn’t Be a Product Manager

Work for a small company and learn from others. Don't rely on a fancy degree, but instead read up, hang out with people, and get hands-on experience. Being a product manager requires using your influence and people skills. You need to be able to address interpersonal conflicts, communicate with stakeholders, and gather feedback. If you can't do these things, being a product manager may not be the right fit. Product management requires constant hustle, talking to people, and keeping an eye on the bottom line. It may be more enjoyable to be a designer or engineer if you prefer focus and problem-solving rather than the messy and interconnected nature of product management.
