The Importance of Checking In

Being mindful and truly seeing the world around us is a practice that can be developed. By having an internal auditor, we can question our level of mindfulness and delve deeper into our observations. Artists and neuroscience suggest that our brains often predict what we expect to see, rather than truly perceiving what is there. By asking ourselves specific questions about what we are observing, such as the edges, lights, and shadows, we can train our brains to see things more freshly and explore the world from a different perspective.
