Understanding the Continuum of Interception to Dissociation

The continuum of interception to dissociation is like a V-shaped model, where one end represents interception and the other end represents dissociation. Ideally, mental health involves being at the base of the V-shaped model, where there is a balance of interception and dissociation. However, in reality, people usually experience a U-shaped model, with the ball bearing shifting between interception and dissociation. This shifting is influenced by external factors such as heart racing or mind drifting. Maintaining a mentally healthy state involves staying near the base of the U-shaped model and not going to extremes. There are times when one can be more engrossed or matched to someone else's state, but it's important to bring back the edges of the continuum to maintain a balanced state. This can be achieved through practices such as meditation, exercise, good sleep, therapy, journaling, and engaging in enjoyable social activities.
