COVID coverage globally was 51% negative, focusing on threats, sickness, deaths, and implications. The other half highlighted the vaccine and provided positive stories. In the United States, 87% of all stories about COVID were negative, almost double the global ratio. The American obsession with advertising and the amygdala idea contribute to this high negative coverage. Americans want to trigger attention by putting out stories that will make people freak out, resulting in negative clickbait that changes our worldview. Constant exposure to these negative stories leads to feeling overwhelmed and fearful.
