Accountability is not a source of punishment, but rather a gift of help, love, and kindness. Holding someone accountable is an act of kindness because it is useful and beneficial. Not holding someone accountable is actually cruel, as it allows negative thoughts and emotions to fester and harm the relationship. True kindness involves speaking up and addressing issues directly rather than resorting to gossip or avoiding confrontation.
