The current system of youth sports is causing us to lose potential great athletes due to age-based limitations and fear-driven travel teams. Travel teams leverage parents' fear of missing out on identifying their child's athletic potential by committing to a demanding schedule. This fear-based approach also restricts children to specializing in one sport and excludes other activities. The system places immense pressure on parents to prioritize sports over family events and personal time. The German approach to training youth soccer players eliminates referees and parents, recognizing that parental involvement often leads to unrealistic expectations and conflicts that negatively impact both coaches and children. Parents have played a significant role in ruining youth sports through excessive pressure on coaches and their children, causing them to dislike coaching and making the children's experience miserable.
