Why are there cans of beans around the Mothman statue?

The Mothman statue in Point Pleasant, West Virginia has cans of beans scattered around it. This is because of the video game Fallout 76, where mothman worshipers leave cans of beans as an offering. The people in Point Pleasant are understanding but would prefer that the food be donated to a shelter instead. They have to clean up the cans, and it would be more beneficial if the food went to those in need. Although it is fun for players to leave the beans, it is more responsible to donate them.
