What to accept and what to change. Ourselves or the world?

Externalizing personal challenges onto societal factors like politics or the economy leads to a victimhood mentality. A more effective approach is to recognize that the only thing one can truly change is oneself, while the external world remains largely immutable. This creates a dichotomy of accepting oneself while striving for improvement versus changing the world and remaining stagnant. True self-acceptance should not be complacent; it should involve acknowledging and aspiring toward a better version of oneself. The discomfort within the self-acceptance movement arises when individuals accept a lesser version of themselves that they aren't genuinely proud of. Instead, one should focus on accepting the ideal self they strive to become, aligning thoughts, actions, and intentions with that potential. This perspective fosters personal growth and positively impacts how one perceives the world.
