Ford's 9.2B Loan Partnership for Battery Factories and Electric Vehicles

Ford has been issued a conditional $9.2 billion loan from the US Department of Energy to build out three EV battery factories. The goal is to onshore and reshore manufacturing and increase the supply chain manufactured in the US. This partnership with SK will bring their know-how onshore, create jobs, and support Ford's forecast of selling 2.5 million electric vehicles by 2026. This is a great idea as it uses the government's balance sheet to shape incentives and achieve energy independence, carbon neutrality, and less dependency on autocratic nations.
