OpenAI CEO: Is ChatGPT Too Woke?

GPT is seen as biased and there will never be a version of GPT that is considered unbiased. Critics acknowledge that GPT has improved, but there is still work to be done. OpenAI aims to make the default version of GPT as neutral as possible, but acknowledges that achieving complete neutrality is difficult. More control in the hands of the user and nuanced answers are seen as the way forward. The bias of employees can affect the bias of the system, and OpenAI tries to avoid groupthink bubbles. The bias of human feedback raters is a concern, and selecting representative raters is a challenge. Optimization includes considering different perspectives and empathizing with diverse groups. The ability to empathize and understand different worldviews is important. Some people are unwilling to pretend to understand opposing beliefs. There is an emotional barrier that prevents open-mindedness. GPT systems have the potential to be less biased than humans. Political pressure and bias may still exist despite the technology's capabilities.
