ADHD can manifest in different ways, and one of the flavors is the inability to focus when uninterested and hyperfocus when interested. This individual struggled with focusing on schoolwork but excelled in areas like gambling and video games due to their ability to hyperfocus. With the help of three teachers, they discovered that if they found a way to make their studies interesting, they could apply their hyperfocus to less interesting subjects. By hacking their own brain and understanding their strengths and weaknesses, they were able to improve their grades throughout high school.

Jason Karp was living what he thought was a successful life in his 20s. He graduated near the top of his class from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and was well on his way to becoming a successful hedge fund manager.
