The cool thing about meditation is that as you get better at it, you don't need to meditate more to experience its benefits. In fact, it is quite the opposite. The better you become at reaching a particular brain state and shifting into specific neural circuits, the less you need to meditate to drive the benefits of meditation. This means that you can alter or change your meditation practices according to your specific goals without increasing the amount of time you spend meditating. It's not about meditating more, but about becoming more efficient and effective in reaching the desired brain state. This counterintuitive idea is discussed in a book the speaker refers to as well.
