How to Motivate Yourself When You're Not Motivated

Visualizing the feeling state and outcome of accomplishing a goal can be an effective practice to engage in just prior to starting work towards that goal. However, if you're having a hard time getting motivated, positive visualization of the end result is not an effective strategy. In that case, spending a few minutes visualizing failure and the negative consequences of not achieving the goal can be a more motivating approach, according to scientific literature.
