How to Troubleshoot a Problem

One way to troubleshoot a problem is to explain it to others. Just by laying out the problem, a solution can often present itself. This can be a helpful part of the troubleshooting process. In the speaker's personal experience, explaining his problem to a writer friend helped him overcome a roadblock and find a solution. Another approach is to have someone interview you about why you're having trouble and record the conversation. This can also help in walking through the problem and reaching a solution. The speaker mentions that when he gets stuck, he starts explaining the problem to his assistant, and sometimes by the end of it, he realizes the solution without needing any assistance. Explaining the problem to someone else can lead to insights and help in problem-solving.
