The key to becoming an expert in any field is to focus on the quantity of hours spent practicing rather than worrying about the choice of what to do. The concept of 10,000 hours is important, where deliberate and focused effort is required to reach this level of expertise. It doesn't matter where those hours are spent, as long as there is continuous improvement and iteration. Spending 10,000 hours on deliberate practice in any area will make you an expert. Maximizing the likelihood of reaching 10,000 hours involves forming a daily habit and comparing your progress only to yourself from the past. Paralysis by choice is common among beginners, but wasting time and making mistakes is necessary for growth and learning. Scar tissue from past mistakes strengthens you for future challenges. The focus should always be on the work done and the progress made.
