Humans have the unique ability to mentally traverse time by reflecting on past experiences, contemplating future possibilities, and living in the present. Regret plays a vital role in learning from past mistakes, allowing individuals to re-evaluate decisions and seek alternative outcomes. However, it's essential to avoid becoming trapped in an alternative reality of the past or future at the expense of the present. A healthy balance among the present, future, and past is crucial, as excessive focus on any one aspect can lead to maladaptive behaviors and hinder personal growth.
