Recursion and Language in Shaping the Human Brain for Consciousness
Language allows humans to be conscious of things that other animals are not conscious of. Human language, through recursion and self-representation, creates a capacity for recursive levels in the human brain. Language provides a place to stand in our own cognition, enabling self-stimulation and exploration of our own brains. This process of recursion and self-stimulation creates qualities and properties that are subjective, dependent on the appreciation of the property to bring it into existence.
