The constant access to photos, captions, and emails through smartphones may not necessarily improve memory. While technology has the potential to enhance daily functioning by outsourcing tasks like memorizing phone numbers and appointments, it can be detrimental when not used mindfully. Mindlessly documenting every moment with photos and constant posting can lead to a lack of presence in the moment and create competition in memory. Hence, the key is to use technology selectively and mindfully to create lasting memories, rather than spending excessive time on phones.
