The internet has decreased attention spans and made people more selective in their reading choices. Books that wrap long ideas in unnecessary length are disliked. However, the oldest wisdom is still found in books that contain the combined works of all of humanity. Reading blogs became popular, but the Kindle and iBooks allowed books to be treated like blogs, skimming and consuming only the interesting parts. Few people actually finish books due to societal and personal rules. Making reading a habit is crucial, regardless of what is read. Just like exercise, doing something every day is more important than the specifics. Reading consistently will eventually lead to a significant improvement in life. The best books to read are the ones that you're constantly excited about.

Naval Ravikant is the CEO and co-founder of AngelList. He’s invested in more than 100 companies, including Uber, Twitter, Yammer, and many others.
