Happiness is a skill that can be learned and developed. Desire is a contract you make with yourself to be unhappy until you get what you want. Obtaining things does not permanently make us happy. Happiness is not about reaching a blissful peak level or finding a single permanent solution. Rather, it is a process of understanding, self-discovery, and training oneself. Net happiness per person is not increasing, and modernity may even bring more unhappiness. Happiness is about returning to the state where nothing is missing, in this moment.
