How to Build and Scale a Company
Building and scaling a company has two distinct phases: zero to one and one to ten million. The process of building a product is different from scaling it. To build a successful company, solve real problems that people have by talking to potential customers and understanding their hair-on-fire problems. Create a simple prototype and gather feedback to iterate and improve the solution. Don't worry about scaling or writing industrial code until you have real paying customers. Once you have customers, focus on infrastructure, security, and hiring the right people. Scaling by hiring more people is a lazy approach. Companies should focus on creating leverage for their existing team members. Implementing a system of information sharing is crucial to effectively scale a company. Companies that fail to implement an effective management system often struggle to scale.
